I bought an LCD monitor and a UPS in 2007.
Earlier this year, the monitor started having whitish smudges in the upper center of the screen which appeared only when the monitor was switched on and the screen display had a dark image. I got this 21.5 inch Dell IPS monitor as a replacement:

Around 2 weeks ago, my new surge protected motherboard started shutting down claiming that there were power surges and the power supply unit (PSU) was unstable. My computer supplier and maintainer informed me today that it was my UPS that had voltage fluctuations.
I'm going to need a new, high quality power strip
or an APC Smart UPS:
APC SUA1000UXI 1000va 800w Smart UPS
